    Frequently Asked Questions

Can I come to Dallas Furniture Bank and get furniture without a referral?

Unfortunately, no. To receive furniture through Dallas Furniture Bank, you must work with one of our partner agencies listed above.

How long does it take to get furniture?

The process varies by partner agency, but Dallas Furniture Bank will always contact you within a week of receiving your referral to schedule with you -- unless there are issues that would cause us to be unable to schedule an appointment or delivery date.

Is it free? DO I have to pay?

No, it is not free. But our furniture is very low priced, lower than most resale or thrift stores. Some partner agencies cover the cost for their clients, and some do not. It all depends on the partner agency. You will talk about this with your case manager at the partner agency.

    Is the furniture new?

While DFB guarantees beds and bedding to be brand new, most other furniture is gently used. All furniture has been thoroughly cleaned and sanitized. You'll probably be surprised by the selection!

We will never provide furniture that we would not accept in our own homes.

How do I ask an agency for help?

Reach out to the partner agency and ask about their programs. They will schedule an intake session with you. During intake, describe the factors that led to your furniture needs. These partner agencies have several programs that may help you, and the partnership with Dallas Furniture Bank is just one of the resources they can connect you with.

I only need beds for my children aged 3-18 who do not have beds.

Reach out to your child's school counselor to request a Beds4Kidz referral with Dallas Furniture Bank for a free twin bed for each child in need. If your school counselor has never heard of Beds4Kidz, have them give us a call!

The Beds4Kidz program does not include beds for adults or other furniture.
